Triple Falls

|
Evans Falls is the uppermost tier of Triple Falls. It's a minor league waterfall at best, but is only 50' or so upstream from Erebus Falls and is worth the minimal effort you'll expend. Townline Brook slides 5' down a bedrock ledge, then leaps about 7' into a shallow pool.

The falls slide over the Littleton Formation, a gneissic bedrock.

This is a fairly photogenic waterfall, despite its small stature. The point at which the stream leaps free of the bedrock could make a good slow shutter study. Bring your tripod. A sunny day will create ugly light patterns here, so late afternoon, or overcast conditions are favorable. A polarizer will be needed to combat glare on the wet rocks. A warming filter is a matter of personal taste. 50mm or the rough equivalent should be enough lens to capture the falls quite nicely.

There is a small turnout on the Pinkham B Road also known as the Dolly Copp Road about 1.5 miles south of Route 2. Follow the trail upstream to the falls.
