From the parking area, you follow a trail for a short distance, perhaps 2/10 of a mile, you cross a footbridge Immediately above and below the bridge are two nice falls. Above this spot, the river tumbles from place to place. While no one fall is very large, there are many falls to enjoy. These cascades may lack drama, but they offer plenty of opportunity to explore. The pond is also very nice, and makes a worthwhile hike on its own.

The falls face west, sun can be a big issue here. On an overcast day, there are many decent photo opportunities. Some of the drops are very shaded, in particular the tight cleft just above the footbridge. A tripod is a must. A polarizer and a warming filter are also recommended. I use a 28-300mm zoom, but don't have any call for the longer focal length here...28-80mm should cover anything at this waterfall.

These cascades are located on the Middlebury/Ripton border. The access is quite simple. A rough dirt road turns east off Route 116 about 1 mile south of the border between Bristol and Middlebury. Follow this rough road to a dead end and start walking towards the Hog-back Mountains. A trail becomes obvious.
