Windmill Hill Pinnacle Association www.windmillhillpinnacle.org has bought the property and as of at least January 14, 2011, Twin Falls is
once again open to the public as part of WHPA's Bald Hill Reserve. However, Twin Falls has a history as a potentially dangerous place to swim. There have been 22 deaths since the 1940s by some accounts. The falls may be visited, but swimming is NOT allowed.
I've seen several photos of the falls, and it looks pretty respectable. It has received a great deal of use as a swimming hole, but this is one to be avoided in periods of high water. As a killer waterfall, it ranks second only to Huntington Gorge with 14 deaths over the last 30 years. The Saxton's River is a powerful river and in a waterfall/pothole configuration, this means potentially dangerous currents. Aerial photography shows more than two tiers as well as another waterfall upstream, just downstream of the Covered Bridge Road intersection with Gage Street. Take Route 121 to North Westminster. Turn south on Gage Street. In about 4/10 of a mile, park and look for the herd paths down to the river. I've heard that the access is steep, so be mindful of this when accessing the river.
