Details:

Hancock Brook goes over 4 short falls in a very attractive gorge. The bridge over the gorge offers the ubiquitous view of the falls. Swimming is not allowed, kind of a shame because the deep bottle green pool below the 3rd fall is as good as any in the state with regards to its aesthetic appeal.

Geology and Bedrock Structure:

Photography Notes:

This is a good waterfall with plenty of good perspectives which present themselves nicely. Overcast days will provide good lighting conditions, but sweetlight in the late afternoon will be the best as the pools will show their colors best. Focal lengths in the 35-105mm range should suffice. As always, have your polarizer with you. A warming filter might be beneficial here, particularly on an overcast day.

Directions:

Texas Falls is just off Route 125, on State Forest Highway #39. It is well marked with ample parking and easy access.
